Week 1- Video Reflection On Tim Brown and Elizabeth Gilbert Videos

  Video reflection.

Tim Brown video on creative thinking and play.

 - After watching his video, I feel that what he had said makes a lot of sense and we should learn from him. He mentioned that we think that playfulness helps us to get better creative solutions. This is quite true but we need to know that in order to play, we need to follow the rules. When we follow the rules, we are playing it accordingly. After watching this particular video of his, I feel that in life, when we are stuck in different situations, we ought to be creative and try to come up with creative ideas so that we are able to keep up with the generation and also be smart in our ways like being very creative with ideas and such. Having great ideas does not mean that one has to be that creative all the time, but I feel that a truly creative person is one that is able to make use of whatever resources they have and like just do whatever they can and have to play around and be creative in their own ways. His video taught me a different perspective of being creative and a whole new meaning to the commonly misinterpreted word "creative".

This goes for being creative, we need to follow the rules of creativity and play, in order to do well. As mentioned, he also said that as time pass, when we do more brainstorming, we will have more ideas coming in if we play by the rules. I would agree with this statement because if we try to brainstorm for new ideas while abiding by the rules, we will definitely be able to have better ideas coming forward. His video also taught me another thing, which is to be as creative as we could be but not break any of the rules and dare to make a leap forward.

Elizabeth Gilbert video on your elusive creative genius.

 - I think that what she is trying to say to the audience is that being creative is not just about having tons and tons of ideas each and every time, but it is to be able to think right and to not let your ideas die down each time. We also need creative minds in order to live, so that we can ensure that we still have some ideas even at our worst ends. She also mentioned that in the past, people did not think that creativity comes from human beings, but instead it came from a source of divine from afar. This point made me feel that as human beings, we are creative on our own and different people has different kind of creativity in them. After watching her video, I feel that being creative is important but it cannot be taken too seriously as having too much ideas might not be too advantageous and positive for a person, especially for an artist. Therefore, I think that if one artist or an individual has sufficient ideas for themselves, it is already good enough.
